A figura do contador de histórias em distopias do século XXI escritas por mulheres
Keywords:

The reemergence of the figure of the storyteller in dystopian novels written by women in the twenty-first century rescues the sense of community that is brought by the sharing of experiences. There is a strong trend to be observed in the genre: storytelling as a means to promote alternative community values. This article aims at discussing how storytellers are presented and represented in dystopian novels written by women in the beginning of this century and how storytelling as a theme opens the debate on new ways of living. In this discussion, I include Ursula K. Le Guin’s The Telling, Margaret Atwood’s MaddAddam, and Nnedi Okorafor’s Who Fears Death, as well as a theoretical discussion among Walter Benjamin’s and Areti Dragas’ notions.
