Abstract

This paper presents an analysis of the history and business model of the Argentine branch of Editorial Norma. The proposal is to problematize the emergence and subsequent failure of the ambitious project to position the label in Latin America as a competitor of the large publishing multinationals. The focus will be on the development of the area of literature, based on Pierre Bourdieu´s premise (2014) that the book is characterized by being a double-sided object, cultural and economic, symbolic and material, therefore the publisher needs the special ability to combine both aspects.
