This article will analyze the novel by Argentine Michel Nieva, The Childhood of the World (2023), from the critical perspective of cyberpunk narrative, in its representation of the current world through a dystopian universe. To do this, this novel will be analyzed with a critical approach, which points to postmodern and post-pandemic capitalist societies, and their impact on the formation of residual societies. Likewise, what the hegemonic posthumanist story hides about technology as the savior of humanity will be analyzed. For the analysis of this novel and its characters, the theories of southern epistemologies are also used, linked to the figure of the monster and virtual reality.
