La propaganda fascista y la comunidad italiana en Brasil: identificaciones y distancias

Abstract

In this article we try to answer a number of questions that remained open after fascism developed in Italy and tried to influence the Italian community in Brazil. In this way it hoped to manipulate the policy of the Brazilian government as well. Relations between Italy and Brazil changed after Mussolini came to power. After being concerned with traditional migration issues, the new Italian government tried to influence the Italian community through existing institutions, but also through new associative bodies whose development can only be understood if we take into account the specific characteristics of Fascist ideology. Mussolini, probably aware of the fragility of Italian Fascism's relations with Vargas' Estado novo and Brazilian integralism, also created a secret Fascist service in Brazil.
