La realidad y el sueño en “El desayuno” (1964) de Amparo Dávila

Among the themes that haunted Amparo Dávila are death, heartbreak, gender violence, illness, exploration of the female soul and its labyrinths, unsatisfied desire, the subject of the double and childhood, among other topics. Given that many of the texts that make up Destroyed Time (1959), his first storybook, have already been addressed by specialized critics, in this article I will focus on the story “The breakfast”, which can be considered peripheral in the production of the author. My interest lies in observing the connections between reality and the dream within the text, and inquiring about its implications or points of contact outside it.
