Abstract

The purpose of this article is to explore the scope of the Romantic myth: woman demon/woman angel in Manuel Puig´s novel Pubis angelical (1979). To reach this object, we have to identify which are the origins of this dichotomy in the basis of the phallogocentric society where women that avoid the norms of the patriarchal society are seen as demons or witches. In this text we are going to analize Ana´s character, the protagonist, and her alter egos. They try to reveal against the standards of the phallogocentric discourse and are punished with illness and death.
