We have all heard that "time is relative". In fact, time simply exists and there have been created many ways of counting it over the years. According to Stephen Hawking, time was originated in the Big Bang. According to the Bible, time was originated when God created the universe. The time of Arda was originated with the music sung by the Ainur and the count of the days began with the travels of Anar. Considering that "any advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic" from the third of Arthur C. Clarke's laws, I would like to offer a series of reflections on the phenomenon of the hours of a day and the days of a year in The Lord of the Rings Online comparing them to the fantastic literary universe created by JRR Tolkien. My reflections below are based on Stephen Hawking and Jesper Juul's considerations about time. I also present brief considerations on media and how the users relate themselves to the game.
