Abstract

This article presents the different ways of representing the sublime on the graphic novel: Karma Police by Jorge Baradit and Martín Cáceres (2011) It poses that the visual and textual universe of this work is developed from many different reappropriations of an aesthetic tradition of the sublime, that ever since the Eighteenth and Nineteenth to our days has founded the importance and characteristics of an art based on elements such as horror, ugliness, unpleasant , violence or pain. These characteristics allow Karma Police to culturally speak with different projects that transform the conjunction between the horror and the sublime in one of the main aesthetic motivations purposes, which establishes it into a paradigmatic proposal of the Chilean graphic novel.
