Lo erótico-grotesco entre notas rojas y las cumbias de un congal: “La vida real” y Nadie los vio salir de Eduardo Antonio Parra

Abstract

For some years, the literature of northern Mexico has become important in the field of literary studies with authors such as Eduardo Antonio Parra, who from the beginning called the attention of critics for the discursive orality of his characters, the deep portrait of marginal groups of the northern border of Mexico and the precise reflection of the harshness and hostility of the north. All these themes centered, generally, on the violence of the characters as a reflection of the border atmosphere. However, little has been investigated about eroticism in several of his stories, which has a special nuance, because although it occurs in sordid, violent and desolate places, at the same time achieves a transformation in the reality lived by the characters for take them to an alternate reality in which their eroticism is the force to continue fighting in the midst of border hostility. In this way, the present work focuses on two stories of Parra: "The Real Life" and Nobody saw them leave, in which the erotic-grotesque elements are analyzed as transforming agents of the reality of the characters, resulting in an alternate reality in which eroticism emerges as a revealing miracle and occupies a main place to help them face the violence that surrounds them and make them aware of what is truly important in life and remove them from the alienation in which they live.
