This paper analyses the forms in which the vreisembable is constructed in the novel Dormir al sol by Adolfo Bioy Casares. This analysis follows the notion of vreisemblace by Tzvetan Todorov, who understands it as a way of giving the impression of truth, that is, a way of making something believable independently if it is truth or false. For Julia Kristeva, this impression of truth is produced by putting together two discourses of different nature, both of them establish a relationship of similarity. Jonathan Culler proposes five levels of vreisemblance, these are five forms of putting in contact the literary work with other texts. This paper analyses the presence of those levels in Dormir al sol, stressing the role of the reader in a fantasy work that is conceived as an artifice or an artifact, and that does not pretend to reflect the referential reality.
