Lo fantástico: reflexiones desde el laberinto sobre algunos trayectos y deslindes teóricos

Abstract

The conceptualization of the fantastic literature has led to countless theoretical-critical proposals, as well as to a multiplicity of taxonomic formulations. Thus, to achieve a definition of the fantastic, one must pass through a labyrinth of ideas. A labyrinth that contains numerous solidly grounded notions, but which also includes different unsupported positions characterized by being diffuse or extremely comprehensive. To the previously mentioned, some recent statements can be added, which have been presented as innovative, but which are no other thing but the repetition, in the essence, of a familiar repertoire of ideas, highlighting the one of David Roas. In this respect, this paper will first expose a synoptic route through the theoretical conceptualizations mostly cited by critics, and then, it will focus on Roas´ statement, in order to establish whether its proposal brings new elements or if it reiterates the already exposed in previous studies.
